The Arts Council has been busy adding programs at the Larimer Arts Center and now we are introducing new Spanish classes with instructor Nelsy A. Concepcion. We will offer classes to adults and youth. Adult classes will begin on Wednesday, October, 27th at 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and will run for 4 weeks. Cost for the month of classes is $40.00. Children’s classes for ages 7 – 10 and classes for ages 11 – 17 will be held on Monday’s and Tuesday’s from 3:00 – 4:00, cost will be $35.00 per month. Spanish for beginners. This will include grammar, writing, and reading.
Born in Constanza, Dominican Republic. Graduated from Public Relations/Human Resources/Bookkeeping. Came to USA 12/18/78 to study English, required skill on my job in the Public Relations and Bateyes(*) Department of Gulf & Western, in La Romana, DR.
Studied English and Portuguese, and revalidated her bookkeeping at Miami Dade Community College, Miami Fla. Nelsy worked for Blue Cross & Blue Shield of WI and decided to do community service with the hospital and police department as a translator and started teaching English to de Police and tutoring students. She was also Board member of the Optimist Club which the main purpose was to serve the youth. She earned the “Optimist of the Year” prize. She was a member of the Art Gallery and Board Member of the Library there.
In 2004 Nelsy moved back to Florida to start a new life where she now teaches foreign language, and hones her hobbies including: painting, classical guitar, and piano. Nelsy also enjoys traveling around the world.
