Save this date: May 11, 2012. Time: 5:30 to 7:30 Place: Larimer Arts Center located at 216 Reid Street, Palatka.
Event: A special opening featuring a group of people with a common interest in photography. The Arts Council of Greater Palatka invites you to join us in seeing where that interest has taken members of Ancient City Camera Club.
The Ancient City Camera Club will soon reach its second anniversary. The club was started by Tommy Harrell of Palatka, in July 2010. Theirs is a social club where the members range from beginners with point and shoot cameras to professionals who sell their art. “We have 42 active members and meet 4 times a month. We have 2 meetings each month in both St. Augustine and Palatka with monthly programs of guest speakers.” says the clubs Secretary Jan Gemeinhardt. . Each month the club has an outing where they meet up and shoot photos together, help each other and learn and share experiences. They have teaching sessions monthly to learn different aspects of photography from cameras, lens to software and editing the pictures taken. “Our meet-up outings have ranged from shooting fireworks and sunflower fields to our upcoming fall outing this year to North Carolina Mountains to shoot fall foliage and waterfalls. All are welcome!”
“It will be an interesting show, viewing the different interpretations of similar subject matter seen by the lens of different photographers” says Evelyn Snyder, Gallery Chairman. The show will run from the opening night May 11th through the end of May, closing on the 31st. Please join us in welcoming this creative group of artists to the Larimer Arts Center. Exhibit is free and open to the public.
