“Live at the Larimer” started six years ago when Dean
Parrish, Nicole Aiken, and Denise Aiken approached The Arts Council of Greater
Palatka’s Board of Directors with a plan to start a coffee house in the
Scarlett Hill Theater, a place where people could relax and enjoy a variety of
talented artists. There began our monthly series, “Live at the Larimer.” After six years, Dean decided to take a break
and we now have Luke Taft who has given of his time to keep this great program
going forward. We will miss Dean and
thank him so much for all he has done for the Arts Council.
Each fourth Friday of the month
we have music groups or solo acts come to the Larimer and perform, usually
followed by an open mike. In the last six years, we have had fabulous
talent grace us with their music, their poetry, and even their jokes. We
have been able to give the opportunity for young musicians such as local
resident Zach Tremblay a place to showcase their incredible talents.
We serve great coffee and light
refreshments to our guests, and we invite them to enjoy the art in our
galleries.
We would like to invite you to
come, spend an evening with us, and experience great music in a casual
atmosphere. “Live at the Larimer” is held on the fourth Friday of the
month at the Historic
Larimer Art
Center located at 216 Reid Street Palatka
Florida. Doors open at
6:30 pm. Show starts at 7:00 pm. Cost is $7.00 at the door.
We want to thank the Putnam County Tourist Development Council,
our members, and all of our performers!

| The
Sironka African Dance Troupe performed a very special Live at the
Larimer event. They were in the United States doing a tour and we
happened to get the opportunity to have them appear
at the
Larimer. The audience was just delighted by the show. They
performed their dances and chants on stage in the Scarlett Hill theater
then traveled through the lobby and galleries where guests were also
seated. The troupe brought their hand made Jewelry and laid it out for
everyone to see and purchase. We are so pleased to have had the
opportunity to have them as our guests. The funds raised that night
went to the Dance Troupe which they use for betterment of the women in
their country. |

The Arts council’s“Live at the Larimer” concert for Friday, February 24th
starts at 7:00 and will be held at the Historic Larimer Arts Center,
216 Reid Street, Palatka. The cost is $7/ 5 for students. Refreshments
are complimentary. This month’s concert features two rock/ pop acts,
Sweetspot and Maurice Roberts. First on will be the winner of the West
Putnam Arts Committee’s Interlachen Youth Talent Contest held last November, Maurice Roberts will be accompanied by Zack Willis.
Roberts, now 18, loves the rush he gets from performing
for an audience. Since he has teamed up with Willis, their music has
excelled as well as their passion for performance. The diverse duo
plays a wide variety of music. Roberts tells the Arts Council that the
audience can expect to hear acoustic renditions of contemporary hard
rock. After the duo Sweetspot will take the stage.
Sweetspot, headed up by lead singer Tiffany Sweet with
Luke Taft on bass guitar/keyboards and Josh Welty on drums, is a
three-piece rock/pop band. Sweet has cultivated her singing talents for
many years and Sweetspot is her latest project. Her powerful vocals are
always a crowd pleaser. Add a strong, tight, dynamic rhythm section and
you get Sweetspot.
