Saturday Night Live

The Arts Council of Greater Palatka invites you to join us for our next “Saturday Nite Live” with The Dunehoppers on Saturday, December 16 from 7PM to 8:30PM. At the Historic Larimer Arts Center located at 216 Reid St., Palatka.  The Arts Council is making this a free concert to the public but are asking for donations of non-perishable foods to send home with our youth during winter break from school.   We are so pleased to have the multi-talented Dunehoppers coming to perform for us.  There will be light refreshments served.  So come on out support the Arts Council events, enjoy great music, and help our youth.  You will not be disappointed with the years of musical talent and experience from the Dunehoppers said Dean Parrish of the Arts Council. This will also be the last chance to view the current gallery exhibit “Evening in Paradise” by Lady Jane Mason.  The gallery walls are filled with beautiful art that will make wonderful gifts for the Holidays.

The Dunehoppers:

Allen Hood-Fiddle and vocals, Leo Shepherd-Bass, Mike Elias-Vocals, Guitar and Mandolin , Kathy Zemanek-Vocals, Banjo, Guitar and Fiddle, Bob Parsons- Vocals, Mandolin, Guitar and Fiddle.

While the Dunehoppers is an acoustic string band based on the instruments and sound of “old-timey” music, the repertoire is infused with all kinds of tunes. Along with many fine traditional fiddle tunes and singin’ songs, you’ll hear songs from the bluegrass, swing, old country and blues genres and more. It’s fun for us to find all kinds of songs we like and make them our own by playing them Dunehoppers’ style. The variety keeps it fun for our listeners, too, and that’s what it’s all about. Allen and Mike are accomplished songwriters so we also have some fine original tunes added to the mix.

The Dunehoppers have been regular performers at the Florida Folk Festival and the Gamble Rogers Music Festival for many years. We have played at the Saint Augustine Turtle Festival, the Annual Earth Day Festival, The Favor-Dykes Fall Festival, the Lake County Folk Festival, The St. Johns County Fair, The Clay County Fair, Barberville Pioneer Days and Spring Frolics, the White Springs Music and Dance weekend the Ormond Folk and Ormond Seafood Festivals, and many other Florida venues, concerts and events. The Dunehoppers were featured as the “Florida Masters” band at the Suwanee Old Time Weekend. We love to play as well for many contra dances and square dances.
