Now you say what is so special well, we have been introduced to a new band called the Maygen Navarro Band their music is very, bluesy, very sultry and all around fun.  Here is the best part, our good friend Harry Rios recently played with Maygen and her band Daytona.  Arts Council Director Denise Aiken viewed the video and immediately had to listen as she knew if Harry was playing with them they must to be great!  Denise loved it and invited Harry to ask Maygen and the band to perform for us here in Palatka at the Larimer.  Now here comes the very Special part.  Harry called with both good and bad news, all depends on how you look at it.  Harry checked with Maygen and it was a definite YES to the performance.  Harry who has been a very dedicated performer for the Arts Council informed us he would be leaving to perform on a cruise ship for many months to Venice Italy!  Well of course we are all so happy for him, but hate to see him go. Harry’s friends and patrons would love to make this an evening to say good luck and Bon Voyage for Harry Rios and hello to the exciting Maygen Navarro Band.   Tickets will be limited for the Maygen Navarro Band and guest Harry Rios. So come celebrate with us.  Tickets are $15.00 and can be reserved by calling The Arts Council at 386-328-8998 or emailing

Maygen Navarro began singing at the age of fifteen. Her current project, “The Maygen Navarro Band” features Harry Rios (keyboard), Daniel Lunde (drums), Dalil Otmane (guitar), and Maygen Navarro (Bass, vocals). The four piece group puts their twist on classic rock and blues songs as well as sharing Navarro’s original music.

Maygen Navarro was influenced by the detail and emotion found in Italian Opera singers, and has since found that detail in the many jazz, blues, rock, and folk singers she has come to love. She started playing piano and her uncle’s handmade guitars at a very young age, which have since become the support behind her writing and voice. Both pragmatic and artistic, she developed her sultry soulful sound by studying techniques from her favorite writers and musicians.  Cultivating sounds, authentic expression, and raw emotion is at the core of every moment of her performances. Maygen constantly incorporates the work of different musicians, building unique sounds for each performance focusing her talents on the preservation of authentic music.  Performing has given her an outlet to share her gift, but also provided the opportunity to truly connect with people. Most recently she has been writing new material that she plans to release this year.  Maygen is currently obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Music Business from Full Sail University as the intern for The Recording Academy- Florida Chapter.

Concerts at the Larimer are supported in part by The City of Palatka, memberships, the Putnam County Tourist Development Council, the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture.
