2011-2012 DeLand Sculpture Walk
All Florida sculptors are invited to participate in the 2011-2012 DeLand Sculpture Walk Exhibition, October, 2011 through September, 2012. Organized and presented by the Museum of Florida Art with the support of the City of DeLand, this exhibition offers established and emerging artists the opportunity to display their sculptures throughout the heart of beautiful downtown DeLand, Florida.

HONORARIA
Twelve to eighteen finalists
will be selected for installation throughout downtown DeLand, Florida. Each
finalist whose works is installed will receive a $750.00 honorarium to offset
transportation and incidental expenses.
Honoraria checks will be presented to the artist at the time of installation. A
W-9 form must be completed by the artist before payment can be made by the
Museum of Florida Art.
APPLICATION CRITERIA
1. The applicant must be at least 18 years of age and reside in Florida six months or more each year*. Applications must include an Artist’s Statement of Technique and demonstration of outdoor sculpture experience.
*Proof of Florida Residency is required: a copy of Florida Driver’s license or utility bills if a part-time resident.

All entries must be fully completed and received for this exhibition by
May 1, 2011.

Application requires one image of existing work to be considered OR one
image of a maquette or model of a proposed work or a comprehensive drawing or
sketch plus two images of similar existing pieces. Maquette, model or drawing
submissions must include dimensions, explanation of materials and anchoring
system.

The selected works are to be exhibited in downtown DeLand from October
7, 2011 until September 17, 2012. Sculptures must be loaned for the duration of
the exhibition as specified and may not be removed and will not be returned
until the conclusion of the exhibition.

Work must be suitable for outdoor installation as follows:
• If designed to sit on a hard surface, the piece must be capable of being
secured to a concrete pad with anchor bolts (provided by DSW). Bolt
hole must be 5/8” (unless an optional anchoring system is provided).
• Capable of withstanding adverse weather conditions (high winds, high
temperatures, heavy rains, storms, etc.) All parts and components of the
sculpture must be structurally sound and durable.
• Fabricated and finished with non-hazardous materials.
• Maintenance-free for the duration of the exhibition.
• Appropriate for an active pedestrian environment and consideration to the
safety of pedestrians.
PLEASE NOTE: Works not following the criteria will not be
considered for installation.

Museum of Florida Art will absolutely not accept shipments on behalf of
the Artist. All work must be delivered by the artist or the artist’s agent.

Installation and de-installation:
• Installation must take place October 3, 4 and 5, 2011. Exhibit location will
be at the discretion of the DSW steering committee.
• The artist will be responsible for the delivery of the work to and from
DeLand, Florida and for supervising the installation of the sculpture.
• DeLand Sculpture Walk will supply standard equipment and volunteers as needed
for installation. Installation requirements outside the norm are the
responsibility of the artist.
• The artist must indicate on the Entry Form how the sculpture will be securely
anchored to the ground surface, or if there are other special requirements.
Concrete pads will be provided as needed; the artist must specify if a
concrete pad is required, and what size will be appropriate for the sculpture.
• There will be an opportunity to meet art patrons and collectors, and the
community at large at a special reception on the evening of October 7, 2011.
Sculptors are expected to be available to speak at this event and are required
to complete installation of their sculptures two days prior to this reception.
• Artists will be responsible for the de-installation and removal of all
sculptures September 17-21, 2012.
PLEASE NOTE: Artists unable to meet the scheduled installation
requirements are not eligible for participation.
8. LIABILITY: During
the exhibition period, the City of DeLand will
provide insurance coverage for damage to the loaned artwork up to
a maximum value of $15,000. Neither the City nor the Museum of
Florida Art will be held responsible for property damage due to
inherent vice or poor construction.
9. DeLand Sculpture Walk, the Museum of Florida Art and the City of DeLand reserve the right to photograph any sculpture and/or the artist for documentation, education and publicity purposes without additional compensation.
10. All sculptures that are sold as a result of the 2011 2012 DeLand Sculpture Walk Exhibition, or during the duration of the exhibition, or 90 days thereafter will be assessed a 30% commission by the Museum of Florida Art.
11. Participation in the entry process constitutes a full understanding and acceptance of the conditions set forth above. Applications will be reviewed and juried by the DeLand Sculpture Walk Steering Committee. All decisions by the Committee are final.
